Friend Problems (Rabekah in Anderson)

Posted in Friends at 5:17 pm by jaqi

Hello Jaqi (:

Well, I was going out with this guy for like a year. He broke up with me after his homeless dad shot me in the foot, and I was like what the heck? So then he dated my friend Kelsey, and she was all like “well, I hope we can still be friends.” Then I went around telling people I was going to kill her, like, literally. So then she like blocked me on myspace out of nowhere, and then they broke up because she was heavily on drugs. Later she sends me a myspace friend request and said, “my mom blocked you cause she didn’t want you to mess up things between me and Philip. I hope we can be friends again.”

And I do wanna be her friend again…

but idk.

My other problem is the fact that I may be too intimidating. I mean, I do dress out. I figured my personality made up for the fact that I look scary.

What should I do?

I think you should try and give this girl a chance. Find a day to go hang out with her. Go get lunch together over the weekend and catch up. If it works out then I think you should definitely try and be friends with her again.

Your other problem isn’t as bad as it might seem. Being unique is very important. Most kids don’t understand that everyone is eventually gonna change and have their own ideas and experiences. I’ve always valued my individuality. I’ve learned that some people are bothered by it and some people will also admire you for it.

Good luck with your friend and never lose your extraordinary personality.

New Kid in School (Jessica in Chicago)

Jaqi,

I have to start a new school soon and I’m really nervous about being “the new kid.” I don’t know what kids wear at the new school, how they act, or anything. I don’t want to make a bad impression my first day.

Oh, I will be in 10th grade ad I’ve never changed schools before.

Jessica in Chicago

What I’ve discovered from my many years of school changing is confidence is the key to a good first day. Make sure you’re not too threatening to your new classmates in any way, and it usually helps to be twice as nice as usual.

Something you should try to remember is that most people talk to the new girl as soon as they see she’s approachable. Just smile and try to have fun.

Also, about the clothes, wear something cute and flattering in colors that won’t stand out too much. Then you’ll look good, but you won’t have too many eyes on you all at once.

Good luck and have fun!
Jaqi
